Collects and Recycles Used Clothes & Shoes
Planet Aid is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that began recycling in 1997 in the Boston area that collects and recycles used clothes and shoes. Visit Planet Aid at Metrofest on Saturday, September 26th and donate your unwanted shoes...take a step in the right direction!
• Our donation bins are found in 21 states, operating through 14 collection facilities. We collect about 50,000 tons per year.
• Research has shown that convenience matters in getting people to recycle more—so our yellow bins are placed in locations that make it very easy for people to donate their unwanted clothing.
• The average American discards approximately 70 pounds of clothing per year without realizing that over 90% of those clothes are perfectly recyclable.
• Planet Aid takes shoes and clothes in any condition--“The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly” we like to say. We find uses for everything that gets donated.
